Dip pen used with calligraphy ink.
The art of writing with a
dip pen is one that has a fairly long tradition starting out with
feathered quills that were cut to shape. These than gave way to wooden
or metal nib holders which did not need recutting or replacing quite as
often. They also allow the use of multiple types of nibs for different
uses, be it Calligraphy lettering, draughtmanship or drawing.
These do not have an internal resevoir like a fountain pen instead to use simply tip the nib into ink dip pen ink.
Each dip pen I make has been individually carved by hand before being oiled and polished.
This pen has been made from a coppiced branch from the Durham area
